Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the area of computer science focusing on creating machines that can replace humans. People have been intrigued to create intelligent machines since ancient times. Nowadays, (1) with the advent of computer, the dream of building smart machines is becoming a reality.
AI is widely applied in various areas, which creates huge economic benefits. Unlike human employees, AI does not need rest during work. What’s more, (2) company no longer need to pay salaries to those AI machines. The companies which employ AI will operate more efficiently and economically than normal ones. Besides this, AI can perform tasks people cannot do. For example, mining operations are so dangerous that human cannot conduct. However, AI can work properly in those situations. The application of AI in mining area will significantly increase the yield, which will bring huge profits.
On the other hand, those who are against these ideas assert that AI should not be used because it will be destructive to the society if it is ultra-intelligent. This fear is not completely fictional. AI will behave maliciously if it is programmed for hostility. However, such scenarios could be avoided by building a consistent architecture with correct standards and legislation.
Although there exist risks regarding the usage of AI, if managed properly, AI could be applied safely and perform even better jobs than before. Good or bad, technology depends on how people deal with it.
