I dreamed I had an interview with God.
“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.
“If you have the time” I said.
God smiled. “My time is eternity.”
“What questions do you have in mind for me?”
“What surprises you most about humankind?”
God answered...
“That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.”
“That they lose their health to make money... and then lose their money to restore their health.”
“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.”
“That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had never lived.”
God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked...
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved.”
“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”
“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”
“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them.”
“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.”
“To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their feelings.”
“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”
“To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.”
“Thank you for your time," I said humbly.
“Is there anything else you would like your children to know?"
God smiled and said, “Just know that I am here... always.”
我梦见我采访了上帝。
“那么，你想采访我什么呢？”上帝说。
“如果您有时间的话”我问。
上帝笑了笑说“我的时间是永恒的”。
“你想问我什么呢？”
“对于人类，您最惊讶的事情是什么呢？”
上帝回答道“他们觉得童年很无聊，迫切的想要长大，长大后又渴望回到童年”。“他们不顾健康的拼命挣钱，然后，又不得不把钱花到重塑健康体魄上”。“对未来的忧虑，使他们忘记了眼前，好像他们既不活在未来，也没有活在现在”。“他们就这样好像自己不会死似的活着，死的时候又好像自己曾经没有活过”。
上帝握住我的手，我们一时无语。之后，我问道，“父母希望让孩子们吸取人生中什么样的教训呢”？
“了解到他们不能强求让每个人都去爱他们，但可以去爱每一个人”。“学到不要和别人攀比”。“学会原谅”。“知道富有的人不是什么都拥有的人，而是欲望最小的人”。“了解到有很多有爱心的人只是不擅长表达自己的情感”“知道即使两个人看到同一样东西，看的结果也会是不同的”。“学会不仅要相互原谅，而且也要谅自己”。
“感谢您能抽出时间和我谈话”我毕恭毕敬地说。
“还有什么别的您想让您的孩子知道的吗”？
上帝笑着说“我永远在这儿。。”
