Kunming,the captial of Yunnan Province, one of the most important central cities in the Southwest China, has a history of 2400 years.
Geographic Location Kunming is located in the middle area of Yunnan, high in its north and low in its south ,it is the key gateway to the Southeast and South Asia, and one of the central cities in the Southwest China.
Area The total area of the city is 21 thousand sq km ,with urban area of 212 sq km.
Climate Kunming has the plateau moutain area monsoon climate in lower latitude, annual average temperature at 15.1℃. and sunshine hours of 2250 in a year, 230 days free from forst . The climate is mild, without cold winter and broiling summer , four seasons like spring time , full of blossoms and luxuriant plants, enjoying the reputation of " Spring City".
Administrative Demarcation Kunming has 5 districts, 8 countries, 1 county--level city, Shilin Yi Nationality Autonomous County, Luquan Yi Nationality and Miao Nationality Autonomous County and Xudian Hui Nationality and Yi Nationality Autonomous County.
Population & Nationality The city's permanent population is 6 million 152 thousand ,including 26 nationalities, including Han, Yi, Bai,Miao, Lisu, etc.
